International Cowgirl manager Reese Weice hired the ghost writer behind “Wiggy” and “Family Carnival” to create a comic strip based on the childhood reminiscences of America’s rodeo sweetheart. — Whiskey Dickel. Though the jokes were hackneyed and the themes derivative, the comic was quickly embraced by the public and syndicated all over the world.
After enjoying years of success, the unknown writer of “Li’l Whiskey” was reported to have died in a tragic methane accident. His name was never revealed. However, the departed writer’s longtime artist and collaborator continues to this day to recycle jokes and cash-in on the publics insatiable need for the predictable and heartwarming.
